Demonstration March 8th, 12pm @ Confederation Park in Peterborough (right across from city hall)

Hi there,

Thanks for the invite...probably won't be doing much blogging here - but I'd like to advertise a little something!

Show your support to the Ardoch Algonquin First Nation and the community of Sharbot Lake at a demonstration in Peterborough on Saturday, March 8th!!! Join active and dedicated members of the Trent and Peterborough community who are in support of the recent injustice served to Paula Sherman and Bob Lovelace (and the AAFN). In light of the recent and tragic events, our governments have clearly demonstrated that they are not interested in negotiating with the AAFN and the construction of an open pit uranium mine is therefore IMMINENT.

This is your chance to form a collective of concerned voices and publicly denounce the oppressive actions of our current government - and demand a moratorium on uranium exploration in Frontenac County! We need to keep this issue in the media if there is any hope of effecting change. Let us remind our politicians that there is a face behind each letter being sent - and that we have voting power! Also, we will be able to show support to Bob, who is being held in jail in nearby Lindsay. (we cannot hold a demonstration there as the institution is along a highway and therefore presents a safety risk)

The demonstration will begin at 12pm in Confederation Park across from the City Hall in downtown Peterborough (see directions below). A march to the local Liberal office will follow a series of speakers at the demonstration. We anticipate that the demonstration will be over by 2:30.

***We need your help to make this event big, loud, and powerful!***

*** Just like the last demonstration: Dress in colour and bring signs stating your concerns - but please make sure they are in good taste***

***noisemakers always welcome***

Dress warmly folks! Advertise well.
